The climate in the US varies by place and time of year. Mostly temperate (i.e., mild), it can range from tropical in Hawaii and Florida, to freezing cold in Alaska, and extremely dry and hot in the deserts of the Southwest.

Pre-school and Kindergarten
American students begin either in preschool or kindergarten for one to three years before progressing to elementary (primary) school. In most states, the age at which a child must start school is six (i.e., the compulsory age for attendance in school is six).
Elementary (Primary) and High School (Secondary School)
Children attend elementary (primary) school for varying amounts of time. In most cases, they attend elementary until Grade 6, though sometimes elementary ends in Grade 5 and sometimes it end in Grade 8.
Graduating High School
American students normally graduate high school at age 17 or 18.
PET (Professional Education and Training) Institutes
These schools, mostly private, are for students with a strong sense of what they’d like their career to be upon graduating – and whose desired careers depend upon specialized technical or vocational training.
Community Colleges (previously known as Junior Colleges)
These are public institutions that generally offer two-year degrees or diplomas or certificates. More than half of the students who attend a community college intend to transfer to universities, and enroll in community college degree programs that allow them to accomplish this transfer.
Undergraduate at a College/University
It generally takes four years to earn a bachelor’s degree in the US. The two types of bachelor’s degrees typically offered by these institutions are BA (Bachelor of Arts) or BS (Bachelor of Science). Students pick a “major” at a certain point as they are working toward such degrees; a major consists of the courses within a degree program that most interest the student (e.g., a Major in English Literature, within a BA program).
Master’s Degrees at a College/University
After completing a bachelor’s degree, students with the necessary grades and/or experience can progress to a master’s degree. Such a degree usually requires one–three years of coursework, and may also include a research component. Some require students to complete a thesis, and some do not. Some are academically oriented, and some are professionally focused.
Doctoral Degrees at a University
More than 35,000 doctorate degrees are awarded in the US every year by more than 500 institutions. Like master’s degrees, doctoral degrees can be academic or professional in nature. To receive their degrees, students need to pass an examination and complete an original piece of research and submit a dissertation.
Doctoral degrees may require a master’s degree for admission, and take from five to eight years to complete.

Making an Appointment
Applicants are now required to book their visa interview appointments online at http://www.ustraveldocs.com/np.. Alternatively, an applicant can book a visa interview appointment by calling call center for non-immigrant visa inquiries .You can only book an appointment after you have paid the fee at Nepal Investment Bank Limited, and you have received a code number from the bank. This code will be printed on your receipt and is valid for making an appointment beginning the next business day after paying the application fee.
Prepare for Student(F-1,M-1,J-1)Interview
Gather Required Documentation for interview Gather and prepare the following required documents before your visa interview:
- Passport valid for travel to the United States – Student passport must be valid for at least six months Nonimmigrant Visa Application, Form DS-160 confirmation page
- Application fee payment receipt, required to pay before your interview
- Photo – Student will upload your photo while completing the online Form DS-160. If the photo upload fails, Student must bring one printed photo in the format explained in the Photograph Requirements.
- Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant (F-1) Student Status-For Academic and Language Students, Form I-

Attend Your Visa Interview
During your visa interview, a consular officer will determine whether you are qualified to receive a visa. You will need to establish that you meet the requirements under U.S. law to receive the F1 visa for which you are applying.
Ink-free, digital fingerprint scans will be taken as part of your application process. They are usually taken during your interview.
After your visa interview, your application may require further administrative processing. You will be informed by the consular officer if further processing is necessary for your application.
When the visa is approved, you may pay a visa issuance fee 200 $.
Delivery of Passports
whose visas are approved will collect their passport and visa from one of six branches of Nepal Investment Bank Limited. When you make your appointment, you will select a pick-up location from six different Nepal Investment Bank Limited locations across Nepal. Applicants who made an appointment under the old system will collect their passport and visa from U.S. Embassy.
